Education:  1991-1996 – Navoi State Pedagogical Institute (NSPI), Navoi, Uzbekistan, MA "Diplom" with Honors of historical faculty. 1997-2000 – Researcher of the institute of History of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences. 2003-2006 – Doctoral candidacy  of the institute of History of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences

Research interests: Study of the modern history and politics of post-Soviet Central Asia. Central Asia regional integration and international relations.

Academic and lecture visits:

In 2003-2012 M.Rakhimov was visiting scholar and professor at the University of Washington and the University Georgia (US), the University of London and Cambridge University (UK), University of Giessen and University Bielfeld(Germany), NATO Defence college (Italy), SRC, University Hokkaido (Japan), Nehru University and Mumbai University (India), Eurasian University (Kazakhstan) and others.
